TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will look to extend their current six-game winning streak this weekend when the women's basketball team travels to Manchester on Saturday afternoon.
Rose-Hulman returned to Heartland Conference action on Tuesday January 3, winning at Hanover College 68-42. The Fightin' Engineers used a stout defensive effort to limit the Panthers to just 24.1%(14-58) shooting from the field. RHIT outrebounded Hanover 49-37 and blocked 10 shots in the contest.
Senior Abbie Marshall filled the stat sheet on Tuesday scoring 11 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, handing out five assists, and blocking three shots. Junior Alyzia Dilworth contributed a game-high 17 points and finished with eight rebounds, two steals, and two assists. Sophomores Taylor Graham and Chiarra Franklin finished in double figures off the bench, scoring 11 and 10 points respectively.
On the season Rose-Hulman sits at 10-2 and leads the Heartland Conference with a 5-0 record. Sophomore Ally Bromenschenkel continues to lead RHIT in scoring (13.8 ppg) and rebounding (7.8). Abby Bromenschenkel has started every game this season at the point guard position and is averaging 7.1 ppg, 3.2 rpg, and 1.5 apg.
Manchester is currently 3-9 in 2016-2017 and the Spartans are 2-3 in league competition. The Spartans most recently fell at Franklin 59-41 on Wednesday night. Beth Schaefer led Manchester with 10 points and six rebounds. Schaefer is the team's leading rebounder with 6.0 rpg. Samantha Bolen leads Manchester in scoring at 10.9 ppg while adding 4.8 rpg. Jennifer Lee is the Spartans' second leading scorer averaging 7.9 ppg.
