TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Rose-Hulman men's soccer team went toe-to-toe with the visiting Hanover College Panthers on Saturday afternoon, playing to a scoreless draw.
The men's soccer program honored its senior class before the game commenced. The seven RHIT seniors honored Saturday afternoon included: Austin Webb, Michael Lawrence, Trevor Bednarek, Turner Perkins, Carter Wright, Michel Farhat, and Davis Ferriell.
Play throughout the entire 110 minutes was physical, and six yellow cards were administered in the match.
Hanover held a 16-7 shot advantage in the match but the Fightin' Engieers nearly capitalized on several late scoring opportunities. Davis Ferriell's free kick in the 84th minute just sailed over the crossbar after Hanover's goalie Will Bedel deflected the shot.
The Panthers threatened late as well but Rose-Hulman goalie Michael Lawrence was able to preserve the scoreless tie by making several saves.
Ross Klauer, Austin Webb, and Davis Ferriell fired two shots apiece to lead the RHIT offense. Michael Lawrence and Carter Wright combined to make 10 saves in the match.
With the draw, Rose-Hulman advances to the HCAC Tournament Semifinal on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hanover College. The Fightin' Engineers will take a 12-4-2 overall record into postseason play.
