AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Capital University scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to capture an 8-4 victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in college baseball action on Tuesday afternoon at Lake Myrtle Park.
Cody Sunderhaus enjoyed a strong outing on the mound to keep Rose-Hulman within striking distance, allowing four runs in six-plus innings. The Capital offense responded against the Engineer bullpen, however, to earn their fourth win in five games.
Zach Donnelly and Ryan Stachowski led the Rose-Hulman offense with two hits each. Donnelly had two singles and scored twice, while Stachowski added two singles.
Rose-Hulman led 4-2 after five innings, courtesy of an RBI single by Zach Trusk, two RBI ground outs and Trusk reaching first on a fielding error in the third inning. Capital scored once in the sixth to close to 4-3 before its seventh inning rally.
Capital improved to 4-1, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 0-3. The Fightin' Engineers return to action on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. against Wartburg.
