TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Riding an eight-game winning streak into Wednesday's contest against Earlham, the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team will look to continue to hold the top spot in the Heartland Conference. The Fightin' Engineers are currently in sole possession of first place in the HCAC with a league mark of 13-1. Rose-Hulman is currently 18-3 overall.
The Fightin' Engineers will look to continue their hot play this season against in-state rival Earlham College. Rose-Hulman defeated the Quakers earlier this season in Richmond back on January 18 by a final score of 51-34. RHIT held Earlham to 22.7% shooting from the floor and forced the Quakers into 24 turnovers. Earlham enters Wednesday's game with a record of 2-19 and 2-12 in the HCAC.
So far this season the women have posted separate win streaks of three, six, and eight games. Rose-Hulman has not lost in Hulbert Arena all season (8-0) and RHIT has won 21 straight home contests dating back to 2014-15.
Sophomore Abby Bromenschenkel has started all 21 games this season. The point guard is averaging 7.1 ppg and 3.2 rpg. Her sister, Ally Bromenschenkel, has also started all 21 games this year and she leads the team in both scoring and rebounding (12.9 ppg; 6.9 rpg). Junior wing Alyzia Dilworth has been one of Rose's key all-around performers. Dilworth has started every game this season and is averaging 8.3 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.6 apg, and 2.0 spg. Seniors Abbie Marshall and Josie Schmidt have also been key players on both ends of the floor for RHIT. Marshall is averaging 5.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, and 2.5 apg. Schmidt is second on the team in scoring with 7.8 ppg. The center from Eighty Four, Pa. is also averaging 4.7 rpg. Sophomores Taylor Graham (6.4 ppg) and Chiarra Franklin (4.2 ppg and 5.2 rpg) have provided depth off of the bench this season.
For Earlham, Hannah Franklin is the Quakers' leading scorer at 11.5 ppg. Shannon Pittman is also contributing 8.6 ppg and 3.41 rpg. Maya Luney leads EC with 6.3 rpg.
