RHIT Softball Swept by MSJ on Saturday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball team was swept in a HCAC doubleheader Saturday afternoon by Mount St. Joseph.

In game one the Lions jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after Paige Kiesewetter smacked a two-run home run to left in the top of the first inning.  Rose-Hulman responded right away with their lone run of the game in the bottom half of the frame.  Morgan Dreyer connected on her second home run of the season to get the Fightin' Engineers on the scoreboard.

After the first inning, Rose-Hulman did not score the remainder of game one, falling to the Lions by a final score of 7-1.  Dreyer went 2-3 at the plate.  Cassidy Yeomans also collected two hits, going 2-3 at the dish.

In game two the Fightin' Engineers lead midway through the game 2-1, but MSJ's offense came to life and the Lions scored 10 runs over three frames to earn a 11-3 win in six innings.

For Rose-Hulman, Jessica Will went 3-3 in game two with two runs scored.  Ellissa Eckert  went 2-3 with a RBI in game two.  Gabbi Markison and Maddie Struble had one RBI apiece to round out the RHIT offense.

Rose-Hulman dropped to 9-17, 1-9 HCAC.  Mount St. Joseph improved to 18-10, 6-2 HCAC.  The Fightin' Engineers are slated to play a doubleheader against Oberlin College tomorrow, weather pending.
