TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team will open the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with a semifinal matchup against Anderson University on Saturday at 1 p.m. at West Indy Racquet Club.
Rose-Hulman (17-8, 8-0 HCAC) seeks its third straight HCAC Tournament championship this weekend. The title match will feature the winners of Saturday's semifinal matches squaring off at 10 a.m. on Sunday at West Indy.
Seniors Georges Adam and Brandon Benedict have led the Engineers throughout the season and throughout their four-year careers at Rose-Hulman. Adam has posted a 16-7 mark at No. 1 singles this season and was named HCAC Player of the Week back on March 13. In the last ITA Rankings released on April 18, Adam was ranked No. 17 in singles play in the ITA Central Region. Benedict has been named HCAC Player of the Week three times this season. Benedict has compiled an 18-5 mark at No. 2 singles and he ranks No. 1 in school history in singles wins (67), doubles wins (72) and total wins (139). The doubles combo of Adam and Benedict ranks No. 17 in the ITA Central Region.
Junior Cam Metzger has posted a 13-10 mark at No. 3 singles this season. He has team up with sophomore Andre Adam to compile a 16-7 record in doubles play this season. Adam has gone 15-8 at the No. 4 singles slot in 2017.
Freshman Austin Perry has gone 11-9 in singles play for the Fightin' Engineers and has paired with senior Joe Kendall to compile a 9-7 record at No. 3 singles. Andrew Schiffman has put together a solid sophomore campaign, posting a 13-5 record split at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
