Volleyball Tops Wheaton, Falls to Hosts at DePauw Invite

GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology stands 8-3 on the season after defeating Wheaton (Ill.) and falling to the host squad at the DePauw University Invitational on Friday night.

In the opener, Rose-Hulman relied on a strong team performance to defeat Wheaton (Ill.) 25-10, 25-20, 25-23.  Bailey MacInnis led the offense with 12 kills and had a double-double with 11 digs.  Grace Beach added nine kills.

Katie Orbeta and Alison Rogozinski led the setting effort with 18 and 15, respectively.  MacInnis had a pair of service aces to provide offensive support.

Defensively, Gabi Razma had 16 digs and Adekite Oladipupo also reached double figures with 10.  Mia Styczynski had five total blocks with four assists, and Maria Bruner contributed four block assists to the front row performance.

In the nightcap, DePauw captured a 25-18, 25-14, 24-26, 25-18 victory over the Fightin' Engineers.  MacInnis again led the Rose-Hulman offense with 16 kills.  Beach contributed eight kills to the offense.

Orbeta had a match-high 27 assists, and Rogozinski provided 13.  Razma (22), Rogozinski (11) and Oladipupo (10) reached double figures in digs.

Mackenzie Gossard led the Fightin' Engineers with five total blocks, including two solo efforts.  Styczynski added four block assists.

Rose-Hulman (8-3) will conclude the DePauw Invitational with matchups against Muskingum (1 p.m.) and Mount Union (3 p.m.) on Saturday.
