FRANKLIN, Ind. -- The Olivet College Comets, fresh off of their 2-1 upset of Franklin College on Friday night, defeated the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team by a final score of 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Olivet used two first half goals, scored just 12 minutes apart, to earn their second win of the weekend.
Rose-Hulman fired 18 shots in the game, 10 of which were on goal. Sophomore Jessica Wells, the 2016 HCAC Freshman of the Year, led the RHIT offense with four shots on goal. Sophomore Maddy Twetten took five shots to provide offense support. Freshman Maggie Sheerin fired two shots on goal for Rose-Hulman in the second half.
Goalie Carli Weinberg collected six saves in the loss. For Olivet, goalie Brooklyn Holley saved 10 shots.
The Comets improved to 2-0-0 with the win, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 0-2-0 on the young season. The Fightin' Engineers will return to action on Tuesday September 5 against Greenville in their home opener. Kickoff from Intramural Field will be at 6 p.m.
