TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on a second half goal from Will McGowen to top Greenville University 1-0 in the men's soccer home opener on Tuesday night.
McGowen found the back of the net on a pass from Cobi Illian in the 76th minute. Michael Lawrence played all 90 minutes in goal with four saves in the shutout.
Rose-Hulman maintained control for much of the contest, outshooting Greenville 11-6. Austin Webb led the offense with four shots.
With the victory, Rose-Hulman improved to 2-1 on the season. Greenville stands 1-2 on the campaign. The Fightin' Engineers return to action at home on Saturday afternoon against Carroll University.
