TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology won nine total events as both the men's and women's teams placed second among three NCAA Division III teams at the Terre Haute Double Dual on Friday night.
In the Division III men's competition, national power Washington University outscored Rose-Hulman 68-47, followed by Manchester with 28. In the Division III women's competition, Washington University topped Rose-Hulman 80-56, followed by Manchester with 27.
The Double Dual also featured an NCAA Division I matchup between Indiana State and Illinois State. Indiana State won the women's competition 76-75, while Illinois State won the men's side 79-72 as the Redbirds claimed the Coughlan-Malloy Cup 154-148.
Rose-Hulman's nine wins were led by Josh Himes with a sweep of the shot put (48' 4") and weight throw (52' 9 1/2"). Other men's winners included Josh Hennig in the 400 meters (50.54), Matt Hill in the 3,000 meters (8:56.81) and Nick Palmer in the pole vault (15' 0 1/4").
The Fightin' Engineer men tallied 1-2-3 finishes in four events. The shot put featured Himes, followed by Eric Fiacable (45' 3") and Jonah Yates (44' 0 3/4"). The weight throw was led by Himes, Fiacable (52' 6") and Nathan Schrader (49' 10"). The 3,000-meter run featured a sweep by Hill, Alton Anspaugh (9:08.70) and Chandler Harkins (9:09.09).
Other runner-up finishers for the Rose-Hulman men included David Goncharov in the triple jump (42' 9 3/4") and the 4-x-200 meter relay team of Brayden Betz, Kristian Zadlo, Goncharov and Tre' Montique in 1:35.19.
On the women's side, Rose-Hulman combined for four event victories. Individually, winners included Camille Blaisdell in the 3,000 meters (10:55.34), Lauren London in the long jump (17' 7") and Jaclyn Setina in the high jump (5' 3").
The women's competition also featured a 4-x-200 meter relay win by London, Gabi Razma, Victoria Heckenlively and Adekite Oladipupo with a time of 1:51.28. Oladipupo added a runner-up finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.32 seconds.
Rose-Hulman retuns home for the Friday Night Invitational on Jan. 19.
