Women's Tennis Set to Face Hanover in HCAC Semifinal on Saturday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman women's tennis team squares off with top-seeded Hanover College in the 2018 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinal Match on Saturday at 1 pm at West Indy Racquet Club.  The winner of the six-team tournament will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament that takes place in May.

HCAC TOURNAMENT PAIRINGS:
Opening Round- Friday, October 19
Match 1: No. 5 Rose-Hulman 5, No. 4 Anderson 0
Match 2: No. 3 Franklin vs. No. 6 Earlham, Approx. 6 p.m.
Semifinals- Saturday, October 20 at 1 p.m.
Match 3: No. 2 Transylvania vs. Match 2 Winner
Match 4: No. 1 Hanover vs. No. 5 Rose-Hulman (Indoors)
Championship - Sunday, October 21 at 10 a.m.

Rose-Hulman News & Notes

* Rose-Hulman has two players with double-figures wins in singles play so far this season.
* Fanny-Jane Banda has an 12-2 overall record and is a perfect 11-0 at the No. 3 singles positions in dual matches this fall.
* Naomi Bhagat has a 11-4 overall record, with marks of 4-1 at No. 1 singles and 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
* Banda and Bhagat entered the HCAC Tournament ranked in Rose-Hulman's career top three in singles winning percentage.  Banda stood at No. 1 (23-4, .852) and Bhagat ranked No. 3 (38-12, .760).
* Bhagat's 39 career singles wins have moved her into a tie for 3rd place in Rose-Hulman history. 
* Beata Barati, Anna Thompson and Linde Schaffer have played nine or more singles matches so far this fall.
* The doubles teams of Bhagat and Thompson (8-7) and Banda and Kyla Jarvis (5-4) stand above .500 this season entering Saturday's match.

* Hanover stands 10-0 and finished a perfect 8-0 in HCAC play.
* The Panthers have won seven consecutive HCAC regular season titles after the 2018 season.
* Hanover has won 48 straight HCAC regular season conference matches.
* Rose-Hulman's last win over Hanover came in the championship of the 2016 HCAC Tournament by a 5-4 margin, securing RHIT's second ever NCAA Tournament bid.
