Men's Soccer Ends With a Draw Against Transylvania

TERRE HAUTE Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer came away with a draw over HCAC competitor Transylvania University 0-0 on Saturday, October 27.  This puts the Engineers at 9-6-2 overall and 6-2-1 in the HCAC.

The first half proved this match would be tightly competitive.  Rose-Hulman was able to out-shoot Transylvania 5-3.  Neither team was able to get to the net in the first period which led to a scoreless match heading into halftime.

The second half continued to be a defensive battle between both teams.  Rose-Hulman out-shot Transylvania 7-6 in the second period, but neither team was able to get on the board.  This forced overtime with the score at 0-0.  Neither team could get a clean shot at the goal and after the second overtime period the match ended in a draw.  Michael Simmons led the offensive attack for the Engineers with three shots.

Goalie Pascal Schlee ended the night with seven saves after seven shots on goal to force the shutout for the Engineers.  The Engineers have attained a spot in the HCAC tournament next week as the third seed.  The team will look forward to compete in the first round on Tuesday, 10/30 in a rematch against Transylvania at 7:00 PM.
