MEMPHIS, Tenn.-- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers were defeated by Rhodes College with a final score of 52-45. This drops the Engineers to 1-2 so far this season.
Three Engineers were able to reach double-digits in scoring. Ally Bromenschenkel led the team with 17 points and was also able to record 8 rebounds. Debie Gedeon was able to record a career high 13 points with 2 assists and 2 rebounds. Kayla Gerken was also able to reach double figures with 12 points and 4 rebounds.
Rose-Hulman started the game strong with an 8-0 run to jump ahead in the contest. Rhodes would fight back to eliminate the deficit and end the first quarter on an 18-0 run to take the lead going into the second quarter 18-8. The second quarter would continue to be competitive. Rhodes would maintain their lead going into halftime with the score at 29-19. Ally would lead the team in scoring with 8 points at the end of the first half.
The Lynx would continue to build their lead during the third quarter. The game would head to the fourth with Rose-Hulman trailing Rhodes with a score of 41-28. The Engineers would cut the lead to just 5 points with the score at 45-50 and 1:51 left in the game. Rose-Hulman battled hard, but were not able to complete the comeback as they were defeated with a final score of 52-45.
The Engineers stand at 1-2 and will return to action this weekend as they look forward to hosting the Midwest Challenge. They will face Washington University on Saturday, 11/24 in their home opener at 2:00 PM. That game will be followed by the second game of the tournament between DePauw and Illinois Wesleyan at 4:00 PM.
