Midwest Challenge Comes to Rose-Hulman This Weekend

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team will host the Midwest Challenge, one of the top NCAA Division III events in the nation, on Saturday and Sunday at Hulbert Arena.

GAME 1: ROSE-HULMAN vs. #20 WASHINGTON (MO.) - 2 PM Saturday

* Rose-Hulman stands 1-2 on the season after defeating Birmingham Southern and falling to Oglethorpe and Rhodes.  The Fightin' Engineers qualified for the 2017 and 2018 NCAA Division III Tournaments; won the 2017 and 2018 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournaments; captured HCAC regular season titles in 2016, 2017 and 2018; and have the nation's longest homecourt winning streak at 38 games entering this weekend's action.

* Washington University has won five NCAA Division III women's basketball national championships (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2010) and has been the national runner-up four times.  The Bears are ranked #20 in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 poll.  Washington University is 1-1 this season, with a win over Blackburn and a loss to #22 Texas-Dallas.
 

GAME 2: #11 ILLINOIS WESLEYAN vs. #9 DEPAUW - 4 PM Saturday

* Illinois Wesleyan won the 2012 NCAA Division III women's basketball national championship.  The #11 ranked Titans are 2-2, with losses to nationally ranked Chicago and UW-Whitewater to go along with wins over Wartburg and Cornell.

* DePauw has won two NCAA Division III women's basketball national championships (2007, 2013).  The #9 ranked Tigers are a perfect 3-0 this season, with wins over Augustana, Otterbein and Trine.
