TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers came away with a victory over crosstown rival St. Mary-Of-The-Woods College with a final score of 91-55. This gives the Engineers their seventh consecutive victory against the Pomeroys. St. Mary-Of-The-Woods still holds the lead in the series overall 14-12.
Ally Bromenschenkel ended the night with a double-double and a career high in scoring with 31 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks. This is the most points scored all time by a player in the Dorsett Automotive Classic. Abby Bromenschenkel was also able to record a double-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds, 6 steals, and 7 assists. Debie Gedeon was also able to reach double figures for the Engineers with 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Other key contributors to the Engineer offense included Morgan Brown with a career-high seven points; Kayla Gerken with seven points; Jenna Queary with six points and five rebounds; Hannah Woody with five points and a career-high five rebounds; freshman Caitlin Young with career-high totals of five points and two rebounds; and sophomore Cassie Utley with career-highs of four points and five rebounds.
The Pomeroys were led by Maggie Reimer who finished the night with 12 points coming off the bench. Regan Hubbard was also able to make an impact with 7 points.
The Engineers were able to jump in front to establish a lead early. The Pomeroys were able to keep the lead to just 4 points until Rose-Hulman ended the quarter on a 9-3 run to put them ahead 24-14.
The Engineers continued to play tough and build their lead in the second quarter. Ally Bromenschenkel was able to lead the team in scoring with 16 points heading into halftime with Rose-Hulman ahead 46-25.
Rose-Hulman continued to thrive offensively in the second half. They would build their lead to 34 points with the score at 71-37 heading into the final quarter of play. The Engineers would end the night with a victory over the Pomeroys in the 2018 Dorsett Automotive Crosstown Classic with a final score of 91-55.
The Engineers finished the night shooting 55.2% from the field and 77.1% from the free throw line.
The Engineers stand at 3-3 so far this season and will begin conference competition traveling to take on the Defiance Yellow Jackets on Saturday, 12/1 at 1:00 PM.
