Women's Basketball Picks Up Road Win Over the Spartans

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers women's basketball team was able to pick up a win on the road against the Spartans of Manchester University with a final score of 51-21.  This improves the Engineers to 7-3 overall and 4-0 in the HCAC with the team's 38th consecutive win over league opponents.

Ally Bromenschenkel led the team in scoring recording a double-double with 24 points, 18 rebounds, and 4 steals.  Debie Gedeon was the team's second leading scorer ending the night with 7 points. Kayla Gerken pitched in 6 points and Abby Bromenschenkel was able to record 5 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds. 

Rose-Hulman found themselves in a defensive battle against the Spartans.  The score remained low with both teams being limited offensively.  The Engineers were able to get their offense going half way through the quarter to put together an 11-0 run.  This would give them the lead 11-2 heading into the second quarter.

The Engineers would continue to control the game and thrive defensively.  They would hold a demanding 23-10 lead as the game headed into halftime.  Ally Bromenschenkel was the team's leading scoring in the first half with 12 points. 

Rose-Hulman came into the second half with the same intensity.  They continued to hold the lead with the score at 38-18 heading into the final quarter of play.  Rose-Hulman would end the game defeating the Spartans with a final score of 51-21. 

The Engineers were able to end the game with a 52-31 rebounding advantage.

The Engineers stand at 7-3 overall and 4-0 in the HCAC so far this season.  Rose-Hulman will return to action on Tuesday, 12/18 to take on #8 Chicago at 7:30 PM.
