Engineers Fall Short to #8 Chicago Tuesday Night

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers women's basketball team came up short against #8 University of Chicago with a final score of 68-61.  This drops the Engineers to 7-4 overall so far this season. 

Abby Bromenschenkel led the team offensively with 17 points.  She was also able to end the night with 2 blocks and 2 steals.  Ally Bromenschenkel was able to end the game with a double-double recording 11 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 assists.  Hannah Woody recorded a career-high 11 points coming off the bench.  

Other offensive contributors included Kayla Gerken and Debie Gedeon with 7 points each.  

The Engineers found themselves in a challenging matchup with the Maroons.  Rose-Hulman was able to stand ahead 15-12 at the end of the first quarter.  Chicago was able to control the lead for most of the second quarter with the Engineers trailing closely behind.

The Maroons would jump ahead in the final minute of the quarter to take a three point lead with the score at 30-27.  Abby Bromenchenkel led the team with 7 points in the first half.  

Rose-Hulman was able to stick with Chicago in the second half.  Chicago was able to hold a five point lead with the score at 47-42 as the game headed to the fourth quarter.  The Engineers would fight hard to cut the lead to just four points with two minutes remaining in the game.  Despite a strong overall performance, Chicago was able to defeat the Engineers with a final score of 68-61.

The Engineers stand at 7-4 overall and 4-0 in the HCAC so far this season.  Rose-Hulman will return to action on Wednesday, 1/2 as they travel to face the Hanover Panthers at 7:00 PM.
