GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology captured two Field Event Most Outstanding Athlete awards to highlight a strong performance at the Indiana Division III Track & Field Championships at DePauw University on Saturday.
Josh Himes and Gabi Razma swept the Men's and Women's Most Outstanding Field Event Athlete awards after winning two field events each. Razma was a three-event winner on the day, capturing the javelin throw (113' 0"), triple jump (35' 8 3/4") and 400-meter dash (1:00.81) titles. Himes won both the shot put (52' 7 1/4") and discus (150' 0"), with his shot put mark ranking No. 9 in NCAA Division III this season and No. 2 in Rose-Hulman history.
The day featured 14 first-place performances as the men came home second as a team and the women finished third. Trey Sykes joined Himes and Razma as a multiple-event winner by sweeping the men's long jump (21' 0 3/4") and triple jump (44' 6 1/4") titles.
Other men's event winners included Eric Fiacable in the hammer (179' 9"); Matt Hill in the 1,500-meter run (4:05.58); Nick Palmer leading a 1-2-3 finish in the pole vault (14' 9"); and Nathan Schrader in the javelin (172' 11").
On the women's side, other event winners included Camille Blaisdell in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:58.00); Adekite Oladipupo in the long jump (16' 4 1/4"); and Jaclyn Setina in the high jump (5' 4 1/2").
The Fightin' Engineers combined for six second-place finishes on Saturday. Men's runner-up finishers included Josh Hennig in the 400-meter dash (49.43); Cameron Prisby in the pole vault (14' 9"); and Aaron Starlin in the triple jump (42' 2 1/4"). Women's second-place finishes were earned by Clare Bruns in the 400-hurdles (1:08.60); Kally Morozin in the 1,500-meter run (5:09.12); and the 4-x-400 meter relay team (4:13.33).
Oladipupo led the third-place finishers with the second-best 100-meter dash time in Rose-Hulman history (12.68). Razma also had a third-place finish in the long jump (16' 1"). Men's third-place efforts included John Evans in the 400-hurdles (58.63); Fiacable in the shot put (48' 0"); Kristian Zadlo in the pole vault (12' 11 1/2"); and the men's 4-x-400 meter relay (3:22.74).
The Fightin' Engineers host the annual Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet on Friday to complete the pre-conference schedule. The HCAC Outdoor Championships will take place at Rose-Hulman on April 26-27.
