TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Eurkea College topped host Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in a non-conference softball doubleheader on Thursday night.
Game 1 - Eureka 10, RHIT 4
The Red Devils jumped out to a 9-0 lead over Rose-Hulman and never trailed in game one of Thursday's doubleheader. Eureka tallied 16 hits in the first contest of the night.
Rose-Hulman broke into the scoring column in the bottom of the 4th inning when Cassidy Yeomans hit a two-run double to right center that scored Mandi Routon and Jenny Miller. Maddie Struble hit a two-run double to deep left that scored Jessica Will and Miller in the bottom of the 5th to assist the RHIT offense. Jenny Miller went 2-3 with a couple of runs scored.
Game 2 - Eureka 6, Rose-Hulman 3
Eureka College jumped out to another early and held on late to take the second game of the night by a final score of 6-3.
Rose-Hulman scored a run in the bottom of the 3rd. Jenny Miller delivered a run scoring single to left that scored Cydney Ogan. The Fightin' Engineers put together a rally in the home half of the 5th. Maddie Struble smacked a run scoring double to left center and Mandi Routon immediately followed with a RBI triple to center to draw RHIT with a couple of runs. Gabbi Markison led the RHIT offense with three hits.
Rose-Hulman fell to 7-19 on the season. Eureka improved to 19-5. Rose will be back in action on Saturday April 21 when the team travels to Defiance College for a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader.
