GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology went toe-to-toe with two of the nation's top teams before dropping a pair of tight matches at the DePauw University Invitational on Saturday.

In the opener, Muskingum improved to 8-2 on the season with a 25-15, 25-22, 16-25, 25-21 victory over the Fightin' Engineers.  Bailey MacInnis led the Rose-Hulman offense with 21 kills and added five digs.  Marissa Gollnick added a double-double with 10 kills and 15 digs.

Katie Orbeta pitched in her own double-double with 47 assists and 10 digs.  Grace Beach provided nine kills and 13 digs, with Sydney Griffith adding to the balanced attack with eight kills.

Katryna Dahlberg led the defensive effort with 23 digs.  Gollnick and Maria Bruner had team-highs with two block assists each.

In the nightcap, Rose-Hulman pushed No. 1 ranked Calvin Knights in every set before falling 25-23, 25-20, 25-21 to the 2016 NCAA Division III national champions.  Calvin improved to 10-0 on the year with the victory.

Beach had a team-high nine kills, with MacInnis adding eight.  Orbeta had 25 assists, with Katryna Dahlberg adding team-highs of three service aces and eight digs.  MacInnis provided five blocks to help the front row defense, and was helped by Mia Styczynski with four block assists.

Following the final match, MacInnis was included on the all-DePauw Invitational Team.

Rose-Hulman stands 9-5 on the season and returns to action with a match at DePauw on Wednesday night.
