GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology junior Jessica Wells assisted on the first goal and scored the game winner to highlight a 3-1 Fightin' Engineer victory at DePauw University on Wednesday night.
Rose-Hulman took a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute, when Sarah Shoemaker found the back of the net courtesy of a pass from Wells. DePauw knotted scored five minutes later on a score by Allison Harvey.
Wells scored the eventual game winning goal in the 39th minute to give Rose-Hulman a 2-1 lead at the half. Elle Ogden added a second half insurance goal to provide the game winning margin as the Fightin' Engineers improved to 4-3 on the season.
Rose-Hulman held a 16-13 edge in shots for the match. Ogden had a team-high five shots and Maddy Twetten added four.
Katie Demert picked up the goalkeeping victory for Rose-Hulman with five saves.
DePauw dropped to 2-5, while Rose-Hulman improved to 4-3. The Fightin' Engineers host Illinois Wesleyan in the annual Grey Matters Awareness Game to raise awareness and funds for the fight against brain cancer on Saturday at 2 p.m.
