Abby Bromenschenkel Steals Record Highlights Win Over Franklin

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers women's basketball team came away with a dominant victory over the Franklin Grizzlies with a final score of 68-46 Wednesday night.  This win improves the Engineers to 9-5 overall and 6-1 in the HCAC. 

Ally Bromenschenkel led the team in scoring, finishing with a double-double recording 29 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 steals.  Abby Bromenschenkel achieved a milestone in her career by breaking the Rose-Hulman women's basketball record for most career steals.  She ended the night with 7 steals which puts the record and her career total at 190.  She also finished the night with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Hannah Woody was also able to make an impact with 9 points on the night.  Kayla Gerken added 5 points and 6 rebounds, and Caitlin Young contributed 4 points and 2 assists.  

Rose-Hulman was able to establish a lead early in the game.  They finished the first quarter ahead of the Grizzlies with the score at 18-9.  The game turned into a defensive battle in the second quarter.  The Engineers outscored the Grizzlies only 8-7 to hold a 26-16 lead as the game headed to halftime.  Ally Bromenschenkel led the team in scoring with 16 points in the first half.

The Engineers continued to play well in the second half.  Ally Bromenschenkel was able to score 11 points in the third quarter to hold off the Grizzlies. Rose-Hulman was able to come away with the victory defeating Franklin with a final score of 68-46.

The team was able to finish the game with a 33-18 rebounding advantage over Franklin.  They also held the Grizzlies to 36.4% from the field compared to the Engineers 56.5%.

The Engineers stand at 9-5 overall and 6-1 in the HCAC.  Rose-Hulman will return to action this Saturday as they go on the road to face the Beavers of Bluffton University at 3:00 PM.
