FRANKLIN, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers men's soccer team was able to record their 10th shutout of the season defeating the Franklin Grizzlies with a final score of 3-0. This improves the team to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in the HCAC.
Eric Kirby was able to strike first for the Engineers in the 24th minute on a penalty kick to take the lead 1-0. The Engineers outshot the Grizzlies in the first half 13-2.
The second half continued to be controlled by Rose-Hulman as they outshot the Grizzlies 8-3. Sam Alvares was able to get to the net after an assist from Matt Fix and Luke McCollough in the 57th minute to make the score 2-0. Matt Fix would connect with a goal of his own in the 70th minute after an assist from McCollough to seal the win over the Grizzlies with a final score of 3-0.
Goalie Pascal Schlee was able to record two saves on the night in the Engineers 10th shutout of the season. Rose-Hulman was able to end the match outshooting the Grizzlies 21-5.
The team moved into a three-way tie for first place in the HCAC with Hanover and Transylvania after tonight's win.
Rose-Hulman will continue their HCAC schedule hosting Manchester University on Saturday, 10/26 at 3:30 PM.
