LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Spalding University relied on a strong offensive performance to sweep a softball doubleheader from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Saturday.
In the opener, Spalding scored five runs in the first and four in the third to claim a 10-0 victory. Emily Struble had Rose-Hulman's lone hit and allowed just two earned runs with five strikeouts in a complete-game pitching effort.
In the nightcap, Hannah Bach led the Rose-Hulman offense with a two-run home run. Jessica Thuer added a double to help the Fightin' Engineer offense.
Spalding relied on an eight-run first inning to jump out ahead of the Engineers and improve to 11-2 on the season.
Rose-Hulman stands 2-8 overall and hosts Bluffton in a doubleheader on Saturday at noon.
