Softball Falls Short in HCAC Doubleheader at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology dropped both games of their doubleheader against Franklin on Wednesday, 4/10.  This puts the Engineers at 4-14 overall and 0-4 in the HCAC.  The team will compete next on the road against Hanover College on Friday, 4/12 at 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM.

Game 1- Rose-Hulman 0, Franklin 14 - 5 innings

Rose-Hulman faced a tough matchup in the first half of the doubleheader.  The Grizzlies were able to jump to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first to take control of the game early.  The Engineers struggled at bat to get themselves back in the game.

Franklin would continue to increase their lead with 6 runs in the bottom of the second and 3 runs in the bottom of the third.  This would put them ahead of the Engineers 12-0 heading into the fourth.  Franklin would come away with the win in game one with a final score of 14-0.

Game 2- Rose-Hulman 0, Franklin 11 - 5 innings

The Engineers continued to struggle offensively in game two.  The Grizzlies jumped ahead to an 11-0 lead after the third inning.

The lead would prove to be too much for Rose-Hulman and Franklin would record the victory with their second win of the evening.
