TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers were able to come away with a win after splitting their doubleheader against the Bluffton Beavers. This improves the Engineers to 6-18 overall and 2-8 in the HCAC.
Game one was a tough showing for the Engineers after falling behind early. The Beavers were able to come away with the win with a final score of 23-0 after five innings.
The second game of the day proved to be a competitive contest. Both teams were all tied up 3-3 in the bottom of the second. A homerun by Emily Struble was able to push in a run by Rhiannon Turner to put the Engineers ahead 5-3 in the fourth. The team was able to score two more runs in the inning by Angela Boulboulle and Christina Gray to increase their lead to 7-3.
Bluffton would make the effort to get back in the game scoring a run in the fifth and two runs in the seventh, but the Engineers would come away with the victory defeating the Beavers with a final of 7-6.
Emily Struble pitched for the Engineers recording 8 strikeouts in 7 innings while only allowing 9 hits and 6 runs.
Rose-Hulman will continue HCAC play this Wednesday, 4/24 hosting the Manchester Spartans at 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM.
