LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Transylvania University relied on a pair of pitching shutouts to earn a softball sweep over Rose-Hulman on Thursday afternoon.
In the opener, Kameron Bowling and Jessica Gunter combined on a four-hitter as the Pioneers topped Rose-Hulman 6-0. Angela Boulboulle led the Rose-Hulman offense with two hits, including a double. Jessica Thuer and Rhiannon Turner had one hit each.
Emily Struble tossed the complete game in the circle with three strikeouts.
In the nightcap, Jordan Kramer and Gunter combined on a two-hitter as Transylvania picked up an 8-0 win. Boulboulle and Struble each had hits for the Fightin' Engineers.
Transylvania improved to 20-10 on the season and 10-2 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 6-20 and 2-10 in conference games. The Fightin' Engineers will host the 2019 home finale on Friday at 5:30 p.m. with a twinbill against Manchester University.
