Softball Falls in Tough Weekend Matchup

EUREKA, Ill. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology dropped both games of their doubleheader against Eureka on Sunday, 4/7.  This puts the Engineers at 4-12 overall.  The team will compete next on the road against the Franklin Grizzlies on Wednesday, 4/10 at 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM.

Game 1- Rose-Hulman 1, Eureka 7

Rose-Hulman was able to get on the board first in the first game of the day after a single by Jessica Thuer pushed in a run by Emily Struble in the top of the first.  Eureka would answer with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first to take the lead 2-1.

The Engineers struggled to produce offensively throughout the game.  Eureka would hold the Engineers to just three hits and end the game ahead to get the win with a final score of 7-1.  Emily Struble pitched for the Engineers recording 3 strikeouts only allowing 10 hits and 5 earned runs.

Game 2- Rose-Hulman 2, Eureka 13 - 5 innings

The offensive troubles continued to hurt the Engineers in game two of the doubleheader.  Eureka was able to get off to a hot start recording 13 runs in the first three innings of the game.

The Engineers were able to put up two runs in the top of the fourth by Angela Boulboulle and Jessica Thuer, but the deficit proved to be too much for Rose-Hulman.  Eureka would pick up the win with a final score of 13-2 after the fifth inning.
