ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology battled through a tight road match to pick up a four-set win at Webster University in college volleyball action on Wednesday night.
Rose-Hulman earned a 25-16 win in set one, before falling narrowly 27-25 in set two. The match ended with a pair of 25-23 wins for Rose-Hulman in the third and fourth sets.
Katryna Dahlberg led the Engineer defense with a historic performance. Dahlberg tallied 42 digs, the third most in a match in Rose-Hulman history. She added four assists.
Elizabeth Canon paced Rose-Hulman with 17 kills, and Grace Beach reached double figures with 12 kills. Kayla Harding added nine kills for the Engineers.
Katie Orbeta and Eryn Castaneda combined for a solid assisting effort. Orbeta had 23 assists, with Castaneda providing 20.
Orbeta added 23 digs to the effort, with Gabrielle Gilbertson reaching double figures with 10 digs. Castandeda, Emma Royer and Orbeta tallied two service aces, and Maria Bruner had a team-high three blocks.
Rose-Hulman improved to 4-9 with the win, while Webster fell to 4-5. The Fightin' Engineers return to action on Friday and Saturday at the Carthage Invitational.
