ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Webster University relied on a strong defensive effort to earn a 3-0 victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.
The shots were very even in the contest, with Webster earning just a 15-14 advantage. The Gorloks took advantage of three scoring opportunities and Taryn Banfield had four saves in the shutout win.
First half shots were even at 6-6, and Webster narrowly outshot the Engineers 9-8 in the second half. Savannah Page, Melissa Kasper and Jordan Lande scored for the Gorloks.
Maggie Sheerin led the Rose-Hulman offense with four shots. Jessica Wells and Maddy Twetten recorded three shots each. Katie Demert had five saves in goal for the Fightin' Engineers.
Rose-Hulman stands 3-4 on the season and travels to DePauw on Tuesday.
