TERRE HAUTE, Ind. --- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team put forward a strong team effort to battle No. 9 ranked Transylvania for four quarters before falling 72-60.
Rose Burnham led the Engineers in scoring with a career-high 16 points, shooting 7-12 from field goal range. Nosa Igiehon was also able to reach double figures in scoring with 13 points and led the team with nine rebounds.
The Engineers started the game off hot with a 17-6 run, highlighted by two three point field goals by Nola Wilson to build a substantial lead over the Pioneers. Transylvania would fight back to tie the score at 19 to end the first quarter.
The Pioneers would stand ahead at halftime 35-29 in a highly contested game. Transylvania would not give up the lead for the remainder of the contest ultimately defeat the Engineers with a final score of 72-60.
Transylvania would have three of their starters end the game in double figures, led by their leading scorer this season Ashton Woodard with 21 points.
Other key contributors included Wilson with eight points and six rebounds; Kahlan Jester with seven points; and Desirae Webster and Avery Lewman with five points each.
Rose-Hulman will look ahead to continue HCAC play hosting Franklin in their next game on Wednesday, 1/22 at 7:30 pm.
