Men's Swimming Wins Tight Meet Over Franklin to Highlight Senior Night

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned a dramatic men's team victory and the women's squad picked up a pair of event wins on Senior Night against HCAC rival Franklin College on Friday.

The men's team trailed by one point entering the final event of the night, before the team of Dutch Kipp, Brendan King, Zach Tate and Jared Brown picked up a 400-freestyle win in a time of 3:10.00.  The Fightin' Engineers topped Franklin 148-140 in the team scoring by virtue of the final event victory.

On the women's side, Rose-Hulman had a pair of first-place performances in a 217-62 loss to the nationally ranked Grizzlies.  Parker Brady won the 100-backstroke in 1:04.93 and Natalija Pumpurs claimed the 200-backstroke in 2:18.97.

Rose-Hulman also honored its senior class of four prior to their final home meet.  This year's senior class included Austin Bockman, Parker Brady, Michaela Kivett and Michelle Reese.

The men's meet featured nine wins in 16 events on the evening.  In addition to the 400-freestyle win, the 200-medley relay team of William Kemp, Derick Miller, Brown and Kipp picked up a win in 1:37.08.

Brown and Miller won two individual events each for Rose-Hulman.  Brown won the 50-freestyle in 21.42 seconds and the 100-freestyle in 48.06 seconds.  Miller swept the 100-butterfly (51.59) and 200-butterfly (1:56.58) events.

Other individual winners included Kemp in the 200-individual medley (2:00.25); King in the 500-freestyle (4:51.17); and Ethan Park in the 200-breaststroke (2:13.39).
