Women's Basketball Announces Six-Player Recruiting Class for 2020-21

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology head women's basketball coach Jon Prevo announces a 2020-21 recruiting class of six players for the upcoming season.  The six players come to Rose-Hulman from five different states.

The talented incoming group joins a team that showed improvement throughout the 2019-20 season, finishing with a 3-3 record in its final six games last winter.

The individuals (listed alphabetically) are:

Ashley Black
5-9 Wing - 
Westfield, Ind. (Westfield)
Planned Major: Biomedical Engineering

Ashley was a 2-sport athlete in basketball and lacrosse during all four years of her high school career at Westfield (Ind.) H.S.  She averaged nine points and five rebounds playing out of position in her most recent high school season.  Black also played on a state championship team in lacrosse.  In the classroom, she was a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society.  She graduated with Academic Honors, Technical Honors and an AP Capstone Diploma.

Peyton Miller
6-0 Forward - Clovis, Calif. (Clovis)
Planned Major: Mechanical Engineering

Peyton played for a Clovis (Calif.) H.S. team that finished as the CIF Northern California Division II Runner-up.  The team ranked No. 23 in California Division I schools and No. 33 in overall all-state rankings.  Miller recorded two double-doubles for the team, including a game with 10 points and 13 rebounds.  She led the team in productivity per minute and in taking charges.  In the classroom, she ranked in the top 25 in a class of 630 students, was a four-year honor roll member, captured scholar-athlete and AP Scholar distinction, and is a lifetime member of the California Scholarship Federation.  Miller also earned Advanced Studies Scholar of Distinction status and was a female winter scholar-athlete as a senior.

Jenna Myers
5-9 Forward - Clinton, Ind. (South Vermillion) 

Planned Major: Biomedical Engineering

Jenna was a four-year starter at South Vermillion (Ind.) H.S. and earned varsity letters in track, soccer, volleyball and cheer.  Her team won the Banks of the Wabash Tournament and she served as team captain as a senior.  The four-time honorable mention all-conference honoree was also an academic all-conference and honorable mention academic all-state selection.  She scored 450 points with 476 rebounds in her career and was chosen team captain of the Wabash Valley Unsung Team.  Myers earned the True Wildcat Award for her overall representation of the program.  In the classroom, she served as National Honor Society Vice-President, class Vice-President, Student Council member, and maintained a 4.0 GPA.

Mira Randolph
5-5 Point Guard - Westerville, Ohio (South) 

Planned Major: Civil Engineering

Mira played for a team that won three conference titles, two district championships and was a one-time regional runner-up at Westerville (Ohio) South H.S.  The two-sport athlete in basketball and cross country was also selected honorable mention all-conference.  Randolph was a 5-time USJN All-Star selection and served as a basketball/coach mentor for the Girls Leadership Basketball Association.  In the classroom, Randolph was a National Honor Society member, earned an Academic Letter and scholar-athlete honors, and served a physics and calculus tutor.

Manuella Shomba
5-9 Forward - Hutto, Texas (Hutto) 

Planned Majors:  Mathematics and Economics (Double)

Manuella averaged 18.5 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.0 assist per game as a senior at Hutto (Texas) H.S.  Her team qualified for the Texas state playoffs two year in a row, something never previously accomplished in the history of the program.  The three-year varsity letter winner earned All-Academic, First-Team All-District and Most Valuable Players awards during her career.  Shomba scored 1.200 points in her career, including a career-high 38-point performance during her senior year.  In the classroom, she was a member of Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honors Society), the Student Athletic Leadership Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Lindsey Thomas
5-8 Guard - Louisville, Ky. (Christian Academy of Louisville) 

Planned Major: Biomedical Engineering

Lindsey scored 721 points with 199 rebounds, 175 steals and 106 assists in her prep career.  She was a member of the 2-time 2A state championship team at Christian Academy of Louisville as a junior and senior.  Thomas earned first-team all-state honors in 2018 and was a finalist for the 2018 NAAPS Region IV Defensive Player of the Year award.  She was also the KCAA State Tournament MVP in 2017 at Highlands Latin School.  In the classroom, Thomas is a National Honor Society member, Kentucky Youth Assembly member, and a Project Lead the Way graduate.  She has also studied Latin and Greek.
