TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Hanover College battled to a 1-1 draw in a matchup of two of the top women's soccer programs in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference on Wednesday night.
Rose-Hulman handed Hanover its last loss in the 2019 HCAC Tournament Championship Game to advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament, and the Panthers have not lost in the last two seasons since.Â
Hanover is the reigning HCAC regular season and tournament champions, and remains tied for first place in the HCAC after tonight's 1-1 draw. The Panthers stand 11-0-3 overall and 6-0-1 in HCAC play, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 9-2-2 and 5-1-1 in conference games.
Rose-Hulman took the lead at 1-0 early in the second half, on a goal by
Kiley McKee in the 67th minute. Hanover knotted the game at 1-1 just four minutes later, on a score by Bri Matis.
Hanover narrowly outshot the Fightin' Engineers 15-14 in the match.Â
Lane Lawrence and McKee had four shots each, and
Natalie Dillon had eight saves. Maggie Day led Hanover with four shots.
Rose-Hulman returns to action on Senior Day for eight members of the squad, when the Fightin' Engineers host Bluffton on Saturday at 1 pm.
