TERRE HAUTE, Ind -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer edged out a win versus Defiance College on Homecoming Day 1-0. Rose-Hulman improved to 7-4-1 on the season and a perfect 4-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Defiance fell to 7-8 overall and 2-2 in the HCAC.
This afternoon's lone goal was scored off the foot of
AJ Yilmaz, assisted by
Takezo Kelly, in the 15th minute. The goal was the junior's third goal of the season and the eighth of his career.
Rose-Hulman outshot Defiance 21-6 in the match, including 12-1 in the first half.
Tyler Eldridge led RHIT in shots with five, followed by Yilmaz with four and
Tatenda Mafa with three.
The Rose-Hulman defense secured its third-straight shutout in the win, led by
Evan Hofer with two saves.
The Fightin' Engineers hit the road on Wednesday, October 13 to Manchester University. Kickoff from North Manchester is scheduled for 7:30pm.
