TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer shutout Defiance College on Homecoming Day 5-0. Rose-Hulman won its third-straight match to improve to 7-2-1 and 3-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, while Defiance fell to 2-8 and 0-4 in the HCAC.
Lane Lawrence set the tone early, scoring in the first minute of the match.
Elle Vuotto scored in the 23rd minute off a pass by Lawrence, and Lawrence scored again on a header in the 34th minute.
Kiley McKee assisted Lawrence's second goal.
Endia Clark capped off the first half with her first goal of the season in the 45th minute, assisted by McKee.
Clark scored her second goal of the match in the 57th minute, this time from both McKee and
Alicia Rodriguez.
Rose-Hulman outshot Defiance 44-0 in the contest, with 21 shots on goal. Rodriguez led the shot chart with seven, followed by Lawrence with six and Vuotto with four.
Lawrence has five goals this season and 16 in her career; Vuotto has three goals this seasons and 12 in her career; Clark has two goals this season and four in her career.
The RHIT defense tallied its third-straight shutout and the seventh in 10 matches.
The Fightin' Engineers return to HCAC action this Wednesday, October 13 at 7pm at home against Manchester University.
