TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball picked up its second straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win against the Mount St. Joseph Lions 76-63.
Jamie Baum led Rose-Hulman with a career-high 23 points, shooting 9-for-17 from the floor.
Rowan Hein contributed all around the court, finishing with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals.
Other key contributors for Rose-Hulman include
Allie Fults with a career-high 12 points off the bench,
Rose Burnham with eight points and eight rebounds, and
Ashley Black with eight points.
Rose-Hulman jumped out to a quick start and led by as many as 12 points in the first half. The Fightin' Engineers led 42-32 at the halftime buzzer, which is the second-most points scored by Rose-Hulman in a half this season (47 points in the second half against Elmhurst).
Maddie Haberthy paced the offense for the Lions. The HCAC's second-leading scorer (23.2 ppg) finished with 16 points in this afternoon's contest.
Rose-Hulman shot 47.5% from the field and added a 14-for-17 effort from the foul line. The Lions finished shooting 40.8% and 10-for-27 from the line.
Mount St. Joseph trimmed a comfortable Engineer lead to 65-54 with 7:58 left in the game, before a 7-2 run gave Rose-Hulman the margin needed to secure the victory. Hein hit two free throws,
Nola Wilson scored a field goal and Baum capped the run with a 3-pointer to put Rose-Hulman up 72-56 at the 6:08 mark.
The Fightin' Engineers improved to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the HCAC. MSJ fell to 3-4 and 1-2 in the HCAC. Rose-Hulman returns to action on Wednesday, December 15 at Hanover College.
