Women's Hoops Tops Hanover for 3rd Straight HCAC Win

HANOVER, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball improved to 5-4 overall and 3-1 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 74-53 win at Hanover College.  Hanover fell to 4-4 on the season and 1-2 in HCAC play.

The women's basketball team used a balanced attack en route to their third-straight win.  Nola Wilson finished with a career-high 19 points on 9-for-14 shooting from the field.  She added three assists and three steals.

Rowan Hein recorded her first career double-double with 11 points and 10 assists, including eight assists in the first half.  Hein added eight rebounds to her efforts.

The 10 assists for Hein rank No. 2 in Rose-Hulman single-game school history.

Other notable performers of the night include Jamie Baum, Ashley Black, and Allie Fults.  Baum finished with 13 points and nine rebounds, Black scored 10 points (5-for-7 from the floor), and Fults recorded 10 rebounds.

Jordan Barlow pitched in with nine points, five rebounds and three blocked shots.  Kahlan Jester also contributed five points, five rebounds and three blocked shots to the effort. 

After the opening four minutes of the contest, Rose-Hulman never trailed.  The Engineers built their lead to as many as 19 points in the second quarter, credited to their 64.71% shooting in the quarter.

In the second half, Rose-Hulman shot their way to a 28-point lead, and in the fourth quarter the lead never fell below 20 points. 

For the game, the Fightin' Engineers finished shooting 31-for-64, good for a 48.4% clip from the floor.  The RHIT defense held Hanover to 32.2% shooting, tied for their second-lowest shooting percentage of the season.

Rose-Hulman halts their season for the holidays and will return to action in 2022.  The Fightin' Engineers open the New Year at home on January 5 against Franklin College.
