Rose-Hulman Men's Swimming and Diving Falls to Strong WashU

MEET RESULTS

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology took on national power Washington University St. Louis in Saturday's meet at the Vigo County Aquatic Center.  The Rose-Hulman team fell 192-84, but still had several top three finishes on the day.

Evan Sellers led the individual performances with a second-place finish in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:02.05) and also placed third in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:51.81. 

Brendan King added a second place finish in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:00.13, and Michael Nixon contributed a second-place finish in 1-meter diving with 162.45 points.

The 200-freestyle relay team capped the meet with perhaps the strongest performance of the day with a time of 1:26.01 that fell less than one second short of a victory.  Dutch Kipp, Tyler Sommer, Ryan Nikolic and Jared Brown completed the event for the Fightin' Engineers.

Derick Miller, Logan McLaughlin, Brown and Kipp finished third in the 200 yard medley relay (1:37.09). McLaughlin added a third in the 200 yard freestyle (1:48.95), Miller finished third in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 52.62, and Brown placed third in the 50 yard freestyle (22.04). 

Michael Huang finished third in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:07.75).  Lane Wagner place third in the 200 yard backstroke (2:02.15), and Tyler Sommer finished third in 100 yard freestyle (48.25).

Antonio Ventresca was awarded maximum points for his 200-individual medley time of 2:10.34.
