Men's Swimming & Diving Earns Tight Win Over Wabash

MEET RESULTS

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on 10 event wins, highlighted by a sweep of both relays, to defeat Wabash 163-137 in men's swimming and diving action on Saturday at the Vigo County Aquatic Center.

Both teams entered the week ranked in the NCAA Division III CollegeSwimming.com national top 20 among men's teams that have competed this season.  Rose-Hulman was ranked No. 7, while Wabash entered the meet at No. 16.

Jared Brown and Evan Sellers led the Fightin' Engineers with two event wins each.  Brown won both sprint freestyle races, claiming the 50 in 21.47 seconds and the 100 in 47.88 seconds.  Sellers swept the distance freestyle events, winning the 500 in 4:52.37 and the 1,000 in 10:07.17.

Other individual winners included Brendan King in the 200-butterfly (2:00.74); Dutch Kipp in the 200-individual medley (2:01.39); Derick Miller in the 100-individual medley (53.41); and Michael Nixon (281.93 points in 11 dives).

The two relay event wins were a key in the 26-point margin of victory for Rose-Hulman.  The 200-medley team of Ryan Nikolic, Miller, Brown and Tyler Sommer won in 1:36.23.  The 400-freestyle relay team of Kipp, King, Sommer and Brown closed the meet with a win in 3:10.28.

Rose-Hulman completed its men's regular season with a 4-1 dual meet record, with the team's only loss to No. 2 ranked Washington University-St. Louis.

Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, scheduled for March 5-7 at the Vigo County Aquatic Center.
