TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's track and field team won its 11th consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference indoor championship with a 194-point effort on Saturday at the Sports and Recreation Center.

Rose-Hulman won eight events, recorded four runner-up finishes and added six third-place efforts to win its 11th straight HCAC men's indoor track and field championship since the event's inception in 2011.  Rose-Hulman has won the last 23 HCAC track and field championships that have been contested - every indoor championship since 2011 and every outdoor championship since 2008.

Larry Cole captured his 27th HCAC Coach of the Year honor for his efforts in both leading Rose-Hulman to victory and planning the indoor championship meet.  Cole's coaching staff includes Geoff Wayton, Liz Evans and Christy Sherman.

Noah Thomas led the performance by playing a role in four of Rose-Hulman's eight event victories.  Individually, Thomas brought home titles in the 200-meter dash (22.84 seconds) and the long jump (21' 7 1/4").

Thomas was also part of two relay championship team performances.  Raymond Bates, Rashard Brown and Jacob Bird joined Thomas in the winning 4-x-200 meter relay (1:32.31).  Bates, Bird and Jacob Eve joined Thomas to win the 4-x-400 meter relay (3:31.68).

Other 2021 HCAC individual event champions for Rose-Hulman included Bird in the 400-meter dash (51.63 seconds); Mikey Holtz in the pole vault (12' 7 1/2"); Josh Krsek in the shot put (43' 1"); and Tim Youndt with a career-best mark in the triple jump (44' 10 3/4").

Runner-ups for Rose-Hulman included Eve in the high jump (6' 0 1/2"); Hunter Crumly in the shot put (43' 1"); Aidan Moss in the 60-meter hurdles (8.68 seconds); and Aidan Woods in the mile run (4:26.06).

Third-place finishers included Eve in the 400 (51.68); Youndt in the 60-hurdles (8.74); Parker Jordan in the triple jump (39' 10 3/4"); Will Thesken in the 800 (1:59.74); and Nolan Gross in the 3,000 (9:07.96).  The distance medley relay team of Evan Brill, Tim Wilson, Noah Heckenlively and Trevor Maynard also took home third place in a time of 11:19.96.

Rose-Hulman won the championship meet with 194 points, followed by Manchester at 104.5 and Defiance with 66.  Hanover came home fourth, followed by Transylvania and a tie for sixth place between Franklin and Bluffton.  Earlham and Anderson brought home the final two spots in the team scoring.

The event completed a weekend sweep for Rose-Hulman track and field.  The women's squad won their 4th all-time HCAC indoor track and field team championship on Saturday at the Sports and Recreation Center.
