TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced the weekly award winners for the sport of men's track & field, where
Andrew Shields has been named the HCAC Sprint Athlete of the Week.
Shields was the top sprinter for the Fightin' Engineers at the Early Bird Invite. The junior mechanical engineering major earned an event win in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.19. He also picked up a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.20.
The Bryan, Texas native was also a member of the third-place 4x400 relay team with a time of 3:32.30.
His 400 time ranks third in the Rose-Hulman record books and leads the HCAC so far this season. His 200 time ranks second in the HCAC this year.
This is the fifth HCAC Athlete of the Week Award for Shields in his college career with Rose-Hulman.
The Rose-Hulman men's track & field team will compete this weekend, hosting the Fightin' Engineers Spring Classic on Saturday, March 28, at 11 AM.
