The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball team opens the home season on Sunday at 1 pm with a doubleheader against Eureka.

SATURDAY RECAP:

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on a game one rally to pick up an opening day softball doubleheader split against Fontbonne.

Trailing 2-1 in the top of the seventh, Rose-Hulman scored twice to pick up a 3-2 win.  MaKenzie Morgan tied the game with a walk, and Ashley Pinkham provided a game deciding sacrifice fly to give the Fightin' Engineers the lead for good.

Alyssa Pinkston picked up the pitching win in the circle, allowing six hits and one earned run with three strikeouts.  Reagan Knabe and Pinkham led the offense with two hits each in the opener.

Nicole Lang blasted a home run to lead Rose-Hulman's offense in a 6-3 loss in the nightcap.  Pinkham added a two-run single, and five players contributed one hit each.

Rose-Hulman stands 1-1 on the season, while Fontbonne has a 4-6 record.  The Fightin' Engineers return home on Sunday to face Eureka in a doubleheader starting at 1 pm.
