TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer topped Transylvania University 1-0 in overtime on Saturday afternoon. RHIT remains perfect on the season at 4-0, while TU fell to 2-2.
Rose-Hulman honored its three seniors before the contest:
Elle Ogden,
Mariah Mufich, and
Maggie Sheerin. These seniors have a 36-22-3 combined record throughout their four years.
The senior day victory was capped by
Lane Lawrence's game-winning goal in overtime, assisted by both
Kyra Hicks and
Sarah Shoemaker. This is Lawrence's second straight, game-winning goal, as she also scored the game-winning goal in Wednesday night's winner over Franklin. Lawrence has scored her two game winning goals with shots from different feet - the right foot on Wednesday and the left foot on Saturday.
The Fightin' Engineers outshot the Pioneers 12-6 overall. Sophomore goalkeeper
Natalie Dillon secured her fourth-straight shutout win this afternoon. Rose-Hulman's defense allowed six shots but none on goal.
Women's soccer hits the road for three-straight away matches, beginning this Wednesday, March 17 at Manchester University. Kickoff is set for 3:30pm.
