TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology jumped out quickly with four first half goals and improved to 5-0 on the men's soccer season with a 6-2 victory over Manchester University on Wednesday night at the Engineer Soccer Field.
Jackson Seida scored two goals,
Takezo Kelly had three assists, and
Caleb Urban had one goal and two assists to lead a balanced offensive performance for the Engineers.
Travis Bednarek opened the scoring four minutes into the match with a goal on an assist from Kelly.Â
Jackson Seida made the score 2-0 courtesy of another Kelly assist.
Harley Krischwitz scored for Manchester to make the score 2-1 at the 22:07 mark of the opening half. Rose-Hulman answered less than two minutes later, when
Matt Fix scored on a double assist from Urban and Kelly.
The Fightin' Engineers increased the halftime lead to 4-1 on the second goal by Seida and the second assist from Urban.Â
Rose-Hulman scored 10 minutes into the second half when Urban scored off an assist from
Tatenda Mafa.Â
Sam Alvares closed the Engineer scoring with assists from
Jacob Dirienzo and
Brevin Lacy.
Manchester scored with 10:35 remaining on a Ruben Gonzalez goal to bring the margin within 6-2.
Rose-Hulman controlled much of the contest by outshooting Manchester 19-6. The Fightin' Engineers move to 5-0 and travel to Defiance on Sunday, while Manchester dropped to 3-2.
