DEFIANCE, Ohio -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team improved to 6-0 on the season with a 1-0 road victory at Defiance College on Sunday afternoon.
Eric Kirby snapped the scoreless tie in the 56th minute, blasting home a score from outside the box.Â
Julius Salinas provided the assist on the score.
The Fightin' Engineers controlled play throughout, outshooting Defiance 14-3.Â
Takezo Kelly and
AJ Yilmaz led the Rose-Hulman offense with three shots each.
Defensively,
Evan Hofer picked up his sixth win in the team's fifth shutout of the season with a strong performance in goal.
Rose-Hulman set up a home showdown with Hanover (5-1) on Wednesday at 7 pm. The Fightin' Engineers and Panthers played to a 1-1 tie in the 2019 HCAC championship game, before Hanover earned the NCAA Tournament automatic bid by winning the subsequent shootout. Defiance dropped to 2-3-1 on the campaign.
