TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's track and field team placed second in the initial meet out of the outdoor season, the Early Bird Invitational on Saturday at Cook Stadium.
Tim Youndt led the individual performances with two event victories. Youndt came home first in both the long jump (20' 8 1/2") and the triple jump (44' 8 1/2").
Other event winners included
Jacob Bird in the 400-meter dash (50.36) and the 4-x-400 relay team of
Raymond Bates,
Jacob Eve,
Will Thesken and Bird in 3:34.51.
Runner-up finishers included
Jacob Back in the long jump (20' 5") and
Nolan Gross in the 3,000-steeplechase (9:46.21).
A total of six individuals came home third in events for the Engineers. Running event third-place finishers included
Prescott Brackett in the 200 (23.38) and Eve in the 400 (50.47).
Eve also came home third in the high jump (5' 10 3/4") and was joined in third by field event performers
Hunter Crumly in the shot put (39' 3 1/4");
Kernan Lee in the long jump (20' 3 1'/2"); and
Mikey Holtz in the pole vault (13' 0 1/4").
Wabash outdistanced Rose-Hulman to win the overall team scoring. DePauw and Greenville tied for third, followed by Franklin and St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the DePauw Quad Meet next weekend.
