ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology stands 4-4 on the 2021 softball season after splitting a doubleheader on Sunday at Webster University.
The host Gorloks won the opener 6-0, before Rose-Hulman rebounded to win the nightcap 5-1.
In the opener, Webster scored five runs in the first inning to open an early lead and held on for the win.Â
Alyssa Pinkston led the Rose-Hulman pitching effort by allowing just one run in 5.1 innings with three strikeouts.Â
Jessica Thuer and
Maggie Swank had singles in game one.
In the nightcap,
Mackenzie Hunt tossed a complete game with seven strikeouts to lead the Rose-Hulman performance. Hunt allowed four singles with no earned runs allowed to pick up the win.
Offensively,
Alexis Sullivan had a single, run scored and an RBI to lead the Engineers.Â
Reagan Knabe also added a single and one scored.Â
MaKenzie Morgan,
Ashley Pinkham and
Alexis Fortuna also scored in the contest.
Rose-Hulman stands 4-4 on the season, while Webster has a mark of 4-3. The Fightin' Engineers return to action at Manchester on Saturday for a regular season non-conference doubleheader against the Spartans.
