NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball splits the doubleheader at Manchester University. RHIT won game one 6-0 but fell in game two 14-6. Rose-Hulman sits at an even 5-5 on the season, while Manchester is now 2-8.
The offense in game one was led by
MaKenzie Morgan, who finished 3-4 on the day with one run and one RBI.
Nicole Lang and
Jessica Thuer each tacked on two hits. Thuer also contributed three RBI's.
Ashley Pinkham was the pitching star in game one, allowing just three hits in her first college shutout. Pinkham had one strikeout in a performance that also marked her first college win.
In game two, the Spartan offense came to life. Rose-Hulman scored in their half of the first inning, but Manchester followed suit by scoring in each of the first four innings. The Spartans also out-hit Rose-Hulman 20-10, having three players finish with three hits and six finish with two hits.
For RHIT in game two,
Jessica Thuer and
Alexis Sullivan both with 2-3 and each scored a run.
Emily Struble boosted the offense with one hit and three RBI's.
The Fightin' Engineers return to action next Friday, April 2 at DePauw University for a 5pm first pitch.
