GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on a pair of event victories and five runner-up performances to place third at the DePauw Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Event winners included
Jacob Eve in the 400 meters (50.51) and
Kernan Lee in the long jump (20[' 4 1/2").
Runner-ups for the Fightin' Engineers were
Raymond Bates in the 400 (51.78);
Nolan Gross in the 3000-steeplechase (9:44.23);
Mikey Holtz in the pole vault (12' 7 1/2");
Isaiah Lilje in the javelin (134' 3"); and
John Sluys in the 5000 (15:47.45).
The efforts also featured a trio of third-place finishers, including
Ben Gothard in the 5000 (15:52.83);
Parker Jordan in the triple jump (39' 6"); and
Jonathan Timm in the 3000-steeplechase (9:49.74).
Trine won the competitive five-team event with 199 points. Wabash placed second with 167, followed by Rose-Hulman at 147.5, DePauw at 120.5 and Manchester at 93.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at its own Twilight Meet this Friday at Cook Stadium.Â
